The Liminal

The Liminal Space was quite difficult to understand, and to be honest - I still don't completely understand it!
The space being 'in-between' not knowing and knowing, can be a hard one to wrap your head around. You don't actually think about that learning until you are told to. As student teachers, we are constantly in that liminal space - taking what we know into a classroom, but then still learning so much more as we go, and then again being in the space of learning and knowing.
I believe that it is important for young learners to be aware of it as it can have such a positive impact on their learning. Being able to identify where they are in that process can be the difference between moving forward and understanding, and moving back and being more confused.
I put "liminal space" into Google, and I found this image - so simple yet still so powerful in depicting the figurative 'leap' from knowing, to learning.
